What is a Microschool?
A microschool is a small group of students that meet regularly under the care of a teacher to achieve academic success through Mastery Learning.
Students meet in person, set daily goals and collaborate on activities and creative projects for an abbreviated time (compared to traditional schools), allowing the student and parents to supplement with other unique learning opportunities when not meeting in person.
Our Structure:
We meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8:30am-3:30pm. We dedicate specific time every day for each student to absorb the materials of core subjects and engaging electives (Math, ELA, Social Studies, Science, Art, etc).
We utilize Miacademy for our primary online curriculum and enrich with hands-on activities and social engagement (with Kahn Academy and other online/print resources for extra reinforcement).
Whereas we have a set structure for our days, we understand that learning occurs on a spectrum and each student will advance at their own rate and different subjects have various levels of mastery. We have built in time for one-on-one support and additional time to achieve optimal learning. In addition we have a flexible schedule that can change to catch up on problem areas or core subjects that were missed if a student is sick, for example.
On the days when not in-person (Thursday-Sunday), the students still have access to their online Miacademy memberships. They can finish assignments, earn extra credit for completing supplemental tasks and/or self-directing additional areas of study. Alternatively, this allows parents to teach-on-the-go in real world examples. Many parents utilize the longer weekends to explore the world to learn hands-on science, history, and art.
Tuition:
Hope Academy costs $400/month with a one time $250 enrollment fee. This includes access to online curriculum and all classroom material. We are ESA eligible and have an account with Classwallet for easy payment.
